91 Rmx 250 Manual
I'm posting this on the AMSA board in hopes of finding someone local that can help. I have been away from dirt biking for many years and would.LOVE. to start riding again. So I pulled out my old bike - Background - I have a 1991 Suzuki RMX250 with an ignition problem. Did the basics - replace the spark plug, disconnect the kill switch, etc. I did the ohm meter check in the Suzuki service manual and it shows the CDI box is bad (ohm values don't match service manual).
Some posts on the internet show that a lot of people have found the ohm values didn't match the service manual and replacing the CDI box did not get them running again. A new CDI box is $400 so that's more than I am willing to spend just to see if that is the part that is bad. Request - does anybody have an RMX or even an RM of about the same year with a working ignition? I want to swap parts until the ignition works to identify the bad part. The rest of the bike is in great condition so I would probably buy a new CDI box if that is the part that is bad. I also saw where some people were replacing the whole ignition with aftermarket. Any advice on doing that?
