Rated 5 out of 5 by rekii from I wish it was either longer or had an extension, better yet, a variety of different length extensions would be great. We bought our Kombi system 5-6 years ago. The adjustable scythe was one of the first tools we bought. Back then we had a 1/4 acre lot but quite a bit to trim.
When our neighbors got wind I ended up trimming throughout the neighborhood. The sythe performed great. 2014 we acquired 7.2 acres with fenced and cross fenced pasture and plenty of black berries, laurel hedges and a large variety of schrubs. The scythe (and other tools) have got a workout and are still performing well.My buddy bought several overgrown acres and tried out our Kombi. He immediately bought his own Kombo system but was unable to purchase the adjistable scythe at any of multiple retailers.
He found the scythe one of the most useful Kombi attachments so has been using ours for the last 6 weeks. Not sure what the problem is but I read one review that mentioned gear box failures. We're getting our scythe back from our friend soon. I hope it keeps working as well as it has in the past. The gearbox doesn't seem to be up to par. They failed on both my attachments. There was a design change between my first and second power scythe attachments and now the stihl site has 'new' listed on their website.
I will have to look and see if there's been another design revision. At the price I'm not sure if I will buy another.
Have many stihl products and they're usually bulletproof.
